K.J.Hospital Research & Postgraduate Centre
  • Founded the first super specialty private hospital in India in 1969. Since then the concept of corporate hospitals started in India. Beginning with 22 beds, it is now a 100 bedded tertiary care super specialty hospital. The hospital leads India and developing countries in the development of high technology in medicine, blending 'High Touch' with 'HighTech'
  • Designed and developed the first mobile coronary care unit in 1970.
  • In 1980 the K.J.Hospital installed the EMI Whole Body CT Scanner 7020 ( High Resolution) the first in South East Asia.
  • K.J.Hospital took the lead to install a Technomed Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy – Sonolith 3000 – for treating Kidney and Gall stones non invasively.
  • The K.J.Hospital started Postgraduate Training Program (DNB) in 1974 in Medicine, Surgery, basic Sciences and Radiology with accreditation to National Board of Examination, New Delhi. It is accredited to the Dr.M.G.R.Medical University for PhD program, Tamil Nadu veterinary and animal Sciences University for M.Phil & PhD programs and to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK for first part FRCS examination.
  • Guided many doctoral candidates to get their PhD from Anna University, Chennai and Tamilnadu Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai.
  • The K.J.Rural Centre for primary care in three villages near Chennai and the K.J.Homes for senior citizens are projects fulfilling a social commitment.
  • Around 200 Paediatric Cardiac surgeries done for the under privilege children in 2 years.
International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA)
  • Founded IMSA with the Late Dr.K.N.Rao and were the First Trustees.
  • Was instrumental in making it the only Indian originated medical organization with multi disciplinary medical professionals and scientists as its members including two Nobel laureates as its honorary Fellows.
  • Has made IMSA into an International and national body with 29 and 20 chapters respectively
  • Started its acclaimed Continuing Medical Education (CME).
  • Was instrumental in making IMSA an associate member of Council of International Organisation of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) Geneva.
  • Conducted 367 monthly CME program without a break under the aegis of IMSA TN Chapter since it’s inception.

  • Overseas Advisor in India and Visiting Honorary Registrar of the College.
  • Co-ordinator of International Activities in India providing advise to the college on mutually beneficial issues and awarding fellowships to eminent achievers in the medical profession.
  • Have convened two major international conference for the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow in Chennai in the year 1988 and 1992, conferences attended by over 2000 delegates with speakers from UK, USA, Germany, Japan and India.
  • Organized Liver symposium in the year 1995 in Chennai with speakers from Cambridge, Pittsburgh and India and attended by over 1500 delegates.
